The book: “Running a biogas programme: a handbook” was published by Practical Action in 1988.
The book was based on a 1985 report for DCS (Development and Consulting Services), United Mission to Nepal (UMN). This report included: Biogas in Nepal Vol I and Biogas in Nepal Vol II.

The DCS biogas project was transferred to the Agricultural Development Bank of Nepal in 1984, with UNDP funding. It was replaced by the Biogas Support Program (BSP) under SNV. This became Biogas Sector Partnership, part of Renewable Energy Confederation of Nepal. The biogas work in Nepal is now supervised by AEPC (Alternative Energy Promotion Centre).
